JETAA Northern Alberta is part of JETAA International, the alumni association for the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme.
We work with the Consulate General of Japan in Calgary to promote Japanese culture and the JET Programme in Edmonton, and help returning JETs fit back into Canada.
JETAANA receives support from Japan's Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
If you're an ex-JET in Edmonton or Northern Alberta, we'd love to hear from you.
More than 25 years old, the JET Programme is a model of grassroots international relations.
Through one of the world's largest exchange programs, Japan invites university graduates from 36 other countries to teach English in its public schools, or to support international relations in government offices.
From Hokkaido to Okinawa, each year, over a thousand JETs build lasting relations with their neighbours, students and peers and dedicate themselves to community service. Highly respected in Japan, most JETs elect to remain on the program for three years or more.
